Our story
After working for decades in corporate sales and marketing, business dynamo Nancy Wiskel decidedto change pace and come home to Peterborough, where she has strong connections to the community.Ready for change, she looked for new ways to leverage her exceptional eye for style, appreciation forcolor, and understanding of the impact of branding on personal and professional image. Opportunityknocked in 2019, when the owners of one of the most respected retail stores in Peterborough werelooking to retire and put Dan Joyce Clothing up for sale. The shop came with a forty-year legacy oftrust and quality and was a beloved local institution. It was a place that resonated for Nancy thanksto her positive memories of the many times she had shopped there with her mother. Nancy knew shewould be able to honour the legacy of the iconic location, while bringing her own strengths to the foreby evolving the shops’ offerings and helping her clients develop their own unique style. This evolutionis also reflected in the new store name DJC Modern Apparel, which gives a nod to the former store’sname, while now more closely aligning with Nancy’s vision.DJC is an antidote to fast fashion which typically focuses on a wardrobe filled with multipleshort-lasting, low-grade items that negatively impacts the environment. At DJC, women can find acurated collection of quality clothing made to last, and the expertise to help them find confidence andjoy in their choices. Our ethos is that each item should contribute to an integral cohesive wardrobe-where all the piece work together. DJC has a genuine desire to make a difference in people’s lives, and in doing so has fostered an environment where women find support, community and clothing thatmakes them look and feel great. We aren’t just about the latest trends – though you will see the latestlooks on the shop floor; we’re about helping women express themselves through what they wear.
